The Fall 2009 Audit Committee Roundtable

At the Philadelphia Fall 2009 Audit Committee Roundtable, Going Forward: Risk, Reform, and Recovery – Implications for Audit Committee Oversight, we will explore how boards and audit committees are responding to increased expectations for risk oversight, as well as the challenges and opportunities presented by an uncertain economic recovery.

Geared to audit committee/board members and business executives who interact with them, seasoned directors and executives will discuss key business risks facing companies in the current environment, as well as emerging practices in the oversight of risk. Among the key questions we’ll address:

  • How are boards and audit committees monitoring the impact of the cost reductions their companies have implemented in response to the economic crisis? What are the risks posed by these cost reductions? Are the reductions sustainable?
  • What are some of the leading practices and emerging trends for board oversight of risk? What are the SEC and congressional initiatives regarding “risk”?
  • How will the changing regulatory and governance environment impact boards?
  • What key public policy initiatives—such as healthcare, tax, energy, and environmental reforms—will have the greatest impact on the company’s reporting, transparency, and compliance obligations, as well as the company’s related compliance, risk, and governance processes?
