About Step Up to Writing
This three-day Trainer-of-Trainers workshop is designed to build local capacity for the Step Up to Writing program. After completing the Trainer-of-Trainers workshop, participants will be able to conduct two-day workshops for their schools.
Step Up to Writing provides writing strategies to help students meet state writing standards. This program gives educators techniques for teaching students how to write clear, concise, and organized expository paragraphs, reports, and essays. In addition, Step Up to Writing helps teachers improve the quality and quantity of writing completed by all students, creates common writing goals for school staff, trains students in logical thought, and prepares students for real-world writing.
This training covers the following: Teaching the Core Strategies, Step Up to Writing in Math, Teaching Step Up Strategies with Children’s Literature, Building a School Wide Plan, Using Step Up Strategies with Gifted and Advanced Writers, Success with Primary Writers, and Step Up to Writing for SAT, GED, and other timed writing assessments.
Trainer: Kim Marcum, M.Ed.
